Blackjack rule variations

Rule variations

As blackjack is now so popular worldwide, casinos have chosen to adopt a set of playing rules that can be generally applied everywhere. There are, however, some noteworthy exceptions:

There are casinos that do not permit players to double-down after splitting a pair. When considering whether or not to split low pairs, this can be an important factor to consider.

Some casinos disallow soft doubling i.e., doubling down after receiving an ace as a first or second card. Other casinos allow doubling on totals of 10 or 11 only.

If one wishes to play seriously, it would be wise to investigate individual casino rule variations. This is of course unless you happened to be in Atlantic City, where, thankfully, all the rules remain the same.
